Time to sum up

July 5, 2008 - Lechuza Caracas, Zacara and Loro Piana were Saturday winners, in a new qualifier round of the Gold Cup for the British Open.
Lechuza Caracas got the day´s first victory as they beat Atlantic Capital by a heavy 16-9. Following, Zacara defeated Grayshurst 11-6 and Loro Piana got a narrow 7-6 win over Cadenza.
Action will continue on Sunday, and the schedule is as follows: Azzurra vs. Les Lions II (Stedham), at 12,30pm; Sumaya vs. Brittany Polo (Lawns Grounds 1), at 3pm; and Bucking Broncos vs. Lovelocks (Lawns Grounds 2), a las 5pm.

The International Polo Club kicked off

July 5, 2008 - The International Polo Cup, held at St. Tropez Polo Cup, has just begun, and will have PoloLine exclusive coverage during next week.
Today´s results were as follows: La Campana 10 vs. Antelope 7, and St. Tropez 9,5 vs. La Locura 7.
There will be one only match on Sunday, when Technomarine meets HB, at 5,30pm.
The final is due on Sunday, July 13.

Loewe had a royal celebration

June 29, 2008 - Loewe beat Scapa Sports 7 ½ - 6 and won the Scapa Sports Trophy, held at Antwerp Polo Club, in which participated eleven teams up to 12 goals. Winners received the trophy from Prince Laurent, of Belgium, who attended the big final.

June 28, 2008 - England, led by Chris Hyde, got a 9-4 win against India, to win the Asia Cup, played at the Duke´s Ground, in Guards Polo Club. The match was played as a part of the Ganjam Jaipur Trophy Day.

Changes for the Warwickshire Cup 2009

June 27, 2008 - Following a meeting of The Stewards on Wednesday 25th June 2008, the Warwickshire Cup will be moved from 2009 onwards from its current position between The Queen's and Gold Cup to follow immediately after The Gold Cup, which means that its final will be played in august.

June 25, 2008 - The Hurlingham Polo Association announced the handicap changes, agreed at the mid-season meeting, on June 23. One of the most important rises is Hilario Ulloa´s, from 6 to 7. Hilario has been finalist of the Queen´s Cup with Sumaya and is one of the big stars of the current UK season.
Changes will be effective on June 26, 2008.

June 25, 2008 - Polo Weekly presents the exclusive coverage of the third tournament of the II Portugal Open, the Gold Cup, at La Varzea Polo Club.

June 22, 2008 - Zacara defeated Geebung 10 - 7, and claimed the Al Habtoor Royal Windsor Cup, in the final played at Guards Polo Club. Lyndon Lea´s team was superior to Geebung, and took control of the action right from the start.
Meanwhile, Asprey London beat Clarita 10-9 and won the Subsidiary Mountbatten Cup.

June 22, 2008 - The Al Habtoor Polo Challenge Exhibition, was held prior to the final of the Royal Windsor Cup, and played by two teams from Al Habtoor Polo Club in Dubai, Mohammed Al Habtoor and Rashid Al Habtoor. It was a very balanced match, which ended tied 5-5.

June 22, 2008 - The La Varzea Open has already its champion, as Lusitania claimed the title, after beating La Varzea 8-6.

June 20, 2008 - Cuckoo Club, with a last minute goal by Bautista Heguy, beat Automat 6-5 and won the Fundación Pro-Alvear Polo Charity Match, the exclusive polo event organized by Juan Pepa´s non-profit organization, which was held at Ham Polo Club.

June 19, 2008 - Top star Adolfo Cambiaso was among the players who took part of the Second Polo Charity Cup Jaeger-LeCoultre, hosted by Jaeger-LeCoultre and held at Ham Polo Club, for the benefit of Fundación Ideas del Sur.
In the day´s main match, the Black Team defeated the White Team 6-4. Rashid Albwardy, from the Black Team, was named MVP.

GCC won the Gulf Cooperation Council Day

18 de junio de 2008 - GCC Polo Team beat Guards by a narrow 4,5 -4, and won the The Gulf Cooperation Council day, the traditional event to promote the relationship and strengthen the culutral ties between the UK and the participating countries of the GCC (Bahrain, Kuwait, Oman, Qatar, Saudi Arabia and the United Arab Emirates), and which also raises thousand of pounds for a variety of charities

June 17, 2008 - There were some important changes in the World Polo Tour Top-5, after the Queen´s Cup is finished.
Adolfo Cambiaso still remains in the first place with 1612 points. He´s now followed by the Queen´s Cup winner, and MVP of the final, Gonzalo Pieres Jr., who has 1204 points, which sent Eduardo Novillo Astrada Jr. to the third place. After obtaining points as the winner both the Prince of Wales Trophy, with Broncos, and the Queen´s Cup as a substitute for Facundo Pieres in Ellerston, Pablo MacDonough is now in fourth position with 1118 units. And it´s precisely Facundo who closes the Top-5 with 1087 points.

June 15, 2008 - Ellerston came stronger in the two last chukkas, and beat Sumaya by a narrow 10-9 to obtain the first big title of the UK season the Queen's. Ellerston´s Gonzalo Pieres Jr. was named MVP, and Elaborate, a 6 years old bay Mare, owned by Ellerston, and played by Pablo MacDonough, took BPP honors.
Previously, the British squad, Apes Hill won the Subsidiary Trophy after defeating Grayshurst 12-11, in extra chukka, with a golden goal by Tom Morley.
